Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are Behavioral Health Services going away?
A: No – In fact, in our new plan we will be able to offer more services to more clients.

Q: Are the Peer Support and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Programs closing on April 30,2010?

A: No, the Peer Support and Psychosocial Rehabilitation programs are not closing on April 30, 2010. Services will continue under these two programs.
 

Q: Are South Fulton, South Central, Center for Health Rehabilitation (CHR) and West Fulton Behavioral Health Centers closing?

A: Under our new plan, we will be able to offer new services and some of the current services provided in the centers will be relocated.  Let's discuss each of these centers separately:

    • South Central Mental Health Center (SCMHC) - will relocate to the Neighborhood Union Health Center effective April 1, 2010. Clients will be able to receive enhanced services at Neighborhood Union.
    • West Fulton – currently services continue at West – we plan to build a new “one stop shop” facility nearby and current clients will be able to receive services at this new location.
  • South Fulton - currently services continue at South. This is the home of the Peer Support and the PSR
    programs.
  • The Center for Health & Rehabilitation – CHR is currently operating as a “one stop shop” center. See services below.

 

 

Q: What behavioral health services can I expect to receive?
A: Your services will include but not be limited to the following:

a. Individual Counseling
b. Group Counseling
c. Family Counseling
d. Medication management
e. Nursing Assessment
f. Physician Assessment

Q: Will I have the same level of treatment providers?
A: Yes. Fulton County Department of behavioral health is still staffed with licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, case managers and dedicated paraprofessionals.


Q: If I can't afford the services, what are my options?
A: Fulton County will continue to ensure that your needs are met regardless of your ability to pay. Our administrative staff is skilled at assisting you with identifying the most appropriate financial solution

The Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities now offers behavioral health services at the North Fulton Service Center in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  The North Fulton Service Center is located at 7741 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30350.  For more information, please call (404) 612-6372.  The North Fulton Service Center offers the following services:

We offer treatment and rehabilitation services in a behavioral health care model that enables clients to achieve and maintain independence and stability to play a more productive role within their families and community.

Payment for Services

The Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities provides services to all Fulton County residents regardless of their ability to pay - whether they are insured or uninsured. We are Medicaid and Medicad providers, and accept payment from insurance companies too. (We recommend that you contact your insurance company to determine whether we are a provider for your insurance plan).
