In accordance with State law, the Board of Registration and Elections sets policies for and oversees the conduct of  registration and elections functions in Fulton County. The Board consists of five members: two chosen by the County Republican Party, two chosen by the County Democratic Party and the chairperson is chosen by the County Commissioners.

William F. Riley, Jr.

Mr. Riley received his law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1981. In 1995, he was appointed to the bench as a judge and later as the Chief Judge of Atlanta Municipal Court. Upon his retirement as Chief Judge in 2004, Mr. Riley returned to private practice where he primarily focuses on municipal law, eminent domain and development authority representation.

Roderick B. Edmond, MD, JD
Chair


Dr. Edmond, a native of Atlanta, is a founding partner of Edmond & Jones, LLP, and serves as the firm’s managing partner. He received his B.S. in Biology in 1983 from Morehouse College, his medical degree from Duke University in 1987 and his Juris Doctor Degree in 1993 from Georgetown University. He served 5 years as a physician and a Captain in the United States Army. Dr. Edmond currently practices law in the area of plaintiffs’ personal injury.

Leslie B. Small

Mr. Leslie B. Small serves as one of the Democratic members on the Board of Registration and Elections.  Mr. Small holds a Masters of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   Mr. Small is a 2011 graduate of LEAD Atlanta.  He is currently the National Committeeman for the Young Democrats of Georgia and the former president of the Young Democrats of Atlanta. He is also a member of the Board of Governors for the Red Clay Democrats.  He recently served as a Board Member for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Georgia.  He resides in the Historic Westside Village Community in Downtown Atlanta with his wife Nikema Williams. 

Stan Matarazzo, CPA (Retired) - Vice Chair

Mr. Matarazzo has a BS degree in Accounting from Syracuse University, where he graduated Cum Laude as well as an MBA degree in finance from Georgia State University. He has an active career in the world of finance which includes lecturing, publishing finance articles and hosting several daily and weekly radio programs.

Mary N. Long

Nurse, activist, lobbyist, administrator, and pioneer, Mary Nathaniel Long graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing.   She soon became the Director of Community Health (formally the Central Referral Department) at Grady Memorial where she created and directed a department of community relations and central services.  Ms. Long was the first minority woman to lobby the Georgia General Assembly, chairing the GNA's political action committee, GNA-PAC, and later served on the board of directors of the national ANA-PAC.  She also co-authored a chapter on state government for the book Political Action Handbook for Nurses. 

Ms. Long served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in New York, 1992, and in 2005 became board chair of Georgia's WIN (Women In Numbers) List, a political action committee for Democratic women in the state.  She also served as a Georgia Super Delegate for President Obama in 2008.  In addition to her distinguished careers in health care and advocacy and to her political activity, Long has an extensive record of service to local, regional, and national groups, including being the first African-American president of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta and membership on the boards of numerous community organizations, including the Atlanta Food Bank, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, and the Atlanta Women's Foundation.

Mary Long was recently honored by the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum for contributions to the Atlanta Civic Rights Movement.
