Liz Hausmann is the Fulton County Commissioner representing District 3.
This district is located in north Fulton and includes the cities of Alpharetta, Mountain Park, Johns Creek, Milton, and part of Roswell. Commissioner Hausmann was unopposed in the November 2, 2010 general election.
Commissioner Hausmann has made her career in public service. She began that career by serving on the Fulton County Board of Education. Elected in 2002, Commissioner Hausmann encouraged system-wide reform. She helped lead the reform to privatize the Fulton County School System Capital Programs Department, saving the school district millions of dollars that could then be utilized in the classroom to enhance student achievement. She also sought to diminish the financial burden to taxpayers by voting to lower the millage rate while serving on the Board.
While still on the Fulton County Board of Education, Commissioner Hausmann served as a member of the Board of the Committee for Johns Creek. As a Board member, she worked to create the new city of Johns Creek, incorporating and electing a local City Council in 2006. Simultaneously, Commissioner Hausmann supported the creation of Johns Creek’s innovative millage rate cap; making it easier for homeowners to have a voice about tax rate increases.
Following the successful incorporation vote, Commissioner Hausmann was elected to join the inaugural Johns Creek City Council. As a leader for the new city, Commissioner Hausmann adopted a model program of privatization which allowed city services to be delivered efficiently and with great savings to the local taxpayers. Johns Creek residents today enjoy enhanced public safety protection, and many new infrastructure improvements to the city.
Commissioner Hausmann’s community involvement includes service on the Fulton Education Foundation Board of Directors, Rep. Tom Price’s Advisory Council, the Fulton County Schools Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council, the Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) Trust, the Administrative Committee of the Fulton County Defined Contribution Plan, the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, the Retirement Board of Fulton County Employees, Encore Park for the Arts and as Vice Chairman of the Atlanta-Fulton Water Resources Commission. She has previously served as a member of the Georgia Municipal Association Legislative Policy Council, Johns Creek Founders Day Chairman, Governor’s Children and Youth Coordinating Council, 2006 North Fulton Phenomenal Woman of the Year, Leadership North Fulton Class of 2006, and Vice Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Registrations and Elections.
Commissioner Hausmann is a Georgia native and the daughter of a public school teacher and Episcopal priest. She is an Account Executive with Southern Bank Equipment. Residing in the Autrey Mill area of Johns Creek for 15 years, she and her husband Mike have 2 children and attend Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church. |
