About the Performers Below: (from their bios)

Mint Condition – Once upon a time, there were great funk/R&B bands like Earth Wind & Fire, The Meters, War, Kool & The Gang, Slave, and numerous others who constantly broke down musical barriers. The musicality of these units was superior – they could rock or funk out as easily as they could move the crowd with a tenor soulful ballad. The rise of electronic music gradually undermined self-contained bands but in the 90s a dynamic young new band emerged—Mint Condition, now the greatest self-contained R&B band of our time. Anointed early on by superstar producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (formerly of the band The Time), Mint Condition does it all—delivering hard-bitten funk with a hip hop edge, rocking out with screaming lead guitar, and crooning lush, "baby-making" soul ballads. The much sought after band, which mark their 20th Anniversary this year, has amassed a string of hits and performs hundreds of live shows each year.

Slick Rick – Born to Jamaican parents in South Wimbledon, London, on January 14, 1965, Slick Rick, born Ricky Martin Lloyd Walters, who has always been considered ahead of his time, is the most successful British-American rapper in music history. Brilliant word play, the effort-less ability to bring life to the stories he rhymed about, dead on pop-culture references and hilarious one-liners make him the wittiest rapper of all time.

He immigrated with his family to the Bronx in the late ’70s and attended the La Guardia High School of Music & Art, where he became friends with future rapper Dana Dane. Rick began to gravitate towards the makeshift music of the streets. The two formed the Kangol Crew, and began performing in hip-hop battles around the city. At one 1984 battle in the Bronx, Rick met Doug E. Fresh, and began playing with his Get Fresh Crew (which also included Chill Will and Barry Bee). In the summer of 1985, the duo released their historic singles, “The Show and La Di Da Di.” Fresh’s beatbox and Rick’s smooth lyrical delivery turned rap music on its head and MC Ricky D. — as Rick was known then– leaped to a solo contract two years later, after an acquaintance with Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen led him to become the 3rd artist signed to Def Jam Records, the biggest label in hip-hop at the time. Before long, Rick would establish himself as one of the architects of hip-hop.

Carl Thomas – “I am back,” declares celebrated and respected R&B singer Carl Thomas. “Do you know why?” he asks almost rhetorically. His confidence and smooth, hood yet high-post eloquence betray even the thought of you offering any possible guesses. You know he is ready with the answer. “I am back because this game will tell the truth on you. If you are meant for it, it won’t allow you to stray away for too long,” he says.

Once a protĂ©gĂ© of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs (who signed Thomas after hearing him sing at an open mic night in New York in the mid – 90s), he was the first heartthrob R&B songster on Bad Boy Entertainment. Thomas is best known for his #1 R&B smash “I Wish” from the album So Emotional, which debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard and was a critical and commercial success, selling nearly 2 million copies.

Nappy Roots - The group, Nappy Roots, is an American hip-hop sextet that originated in Kentucky in 1995, best known for their hit 2002 single “Awnaw”. Their music can be categorized as alternative Southern rap.

The members of the group met while studying at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The group consists of Kentucky and Oakland, California natives Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V, R. Prophet, and Fishscales.

Their debut album Country Fried Cess was released in 1998. Eventually, they were signed to the major label Atlantic Records and rose to fame with their first album on the label, 2002’s Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz. The album featured the singles “Headz up”, “Awnaw” (whose remix featured Marcos Curiel), and “Po’ Folks” (featuring Anthony Hamilton). Their next album Wooden Leather, released in 2003, featured the singles “Roun’ the Globe” and “Sick and Tired” (featuring Anthony Hamilton). This critically acclaimed, major label follow up album, “Wooden Leather” featured production from Kanye West, David Banner and Lil Jon.

Since the release of Wooden Leather, they are back to being independent artists, and have started their own label, N.R.E.G (Nappy Roots Entertainment Group) with distribution through Fontana/Universal Music Group. On July 31, 2007, they released their first album as independent artists, Innerstate Music featuring singles “Good Day” and “Keep It Real”.

Griff – “GRIFF” is from EARTH (small Planet in The Milky Way)
Maybe you’ve heard of it?? But since everyone might not get that, he’s a native of California who now resides in Atlanta, GA. “GRIFF” has wanted to be a comedian since he was three years old where his mother set up the seniors in The Convalescent Homes where she worked, in an audience type setting and let her son make sleeping and comatose old people laugh.
So after working the Geriatric Circuit for a couple of summers, his destiny was settled. Since then, that little funny boy with the faith of a PLANET (mustard seeds are so cliché) has made a name for himself as one of the leading comedians and On-Air Personalities in the Country by headlining across North America (including Canada), New Zealand, The U.K. and Africa.

Opening up for major acts such as The KINGS and QUEENS of comedy, New Edition, BEYONCE, Dottie Peoples, Najee, Mo’Nique, Donnie McClurkin, D.L. Hughley, Pastor Jesse Curney III, Jeff Majors, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary and more, has solidified this young man’s Ordered Steps. Because of his love for comedy and sports, “GRIFF” landed the job as Sports Director and Co-Host of The Frank-Ski morning show, WVEE V-103FM in Atlanta from November 1998 – November 2001. With his quick wit and unsurpassed knowledge for sports news, “GRIFF” took sports took to the ‘next level’ with his comedic twist on athletes and their stories. In 1999, he received Georgia’s Sportscaster of the Year Award and in 2004 “Street Skillz”, a program he provided the color commentary for was nominated for an EMMY.

After finding out that Radio will give you MANY opportunities to work (
nice sentence for being Laid Off) “GRIFF” was picked out of thousands to host the nationally syndicated TV Show THUNDERBOX. (on FOX SPORTS). THUNDERBOX in essence was hip-hop meets real boxing with a storyline compared to that of the WWE! With his natural love of the cameras, sports and music
he was the obvious choice as Host. Through DONE DEAL ENTERTAINMENT, “GRIFF” has many upcoming projects. These projects include DOND DEAL SPORTS (Radio / TV), The Toni & “GRIFF” Show LIVE, LOL Wednesdays (Greenville, S.C.) and a number of ‘One Nighters’ produced in different States each week. “GRIFF” has appeared on B.E.T.’s COMIC VIEW four times, THE BIG BLACK COMEDY SHOW for SHOWTIME, The 1st Amendment COMEDY SHOW which aired on the STARS Network, The One Love Gospel Cruise (in 07, 09, 2010, 2011 & 2012) B.E.T.’s “A TIME TO LAUGH” Hosted by Vickie Winans and most recently the fourth year of The Radio One’s Family Comedy Tour.

“GRIFF” returned to radio in Atlanta in 2005 on Radio One’s HOT 107.9. The “A-Team Morning Shows” theme was all about Atlanta! Rashan Ali, Emperor Searcy and GRIFFY2TRILLION were the culmination of entertainment and information with an incredible spice of comedy! After three and a half years of hard work, the crew gained tremendous audience among 18-34 year-old men and women in the market. (Another nice paragraph for ‘laid off.’) Since September of 2009, “GRIFF” has been working on his true passion, The Toni & “GRIFF” Show, a Family oriented Radio / TV Show produced and created by his beautiful and hilarious wife Toni.

Ultimately, “GRIFF” is a Comedian, an On-Air Personality, an Author, an Actor, a Motivational Speaker, a Daddy, an EMMY nominated Sportscaster and a man who puts JESUS CHRIST ahead of all men all wrapped into one
And if that’s not enough of a   BIO
