R. David Ware was appointed County Attorney in November, 2008. Mr. Ware has been in practice for over 30 years and is a nationally known trial lawyer. Mr. Ware joined the County Attorney's Office in September 2004 and was previously the Senior Attorney in charge of the Employment/Personnel Division, Risk Management and a Staff Attorney in the Public Safety Division. Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, Mr. Ware practiced privately where he specialized in litigation and sports law. A past president of the Gate City Bar, Mr. Ware has also served as a Magistrate Judge in both State and Superior Court. Mr. Ware earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of West Georgia where he was a two sport athlete and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law where he excelled in Moot Court. He is an active member of the Georgia Bar and is admitted to practice law in all federal and state trial and appellate courts including the United States Supreme Court.

In addition to overseeing an extensive litigation practice, which includes employment, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, governmental contract, taxation, tax sales, tax assessment, zoning, land use, environmental, construction, constitutional, First Amendment, Section 1983, and bankruptcy matters and an extensive motion and appellate practice, the County Attorney performs other important functions such as preparing legislation and resolutions for the Board of Commissioners; researching and preparing legal opinions interpreting local, state, and federal laws for Fulton County officials; and negotiating contracts for major development projects. The County Attorney also oversees a great variety of property and tax matters.

With twenty-two full time attorneys, the Office of the County Attorney is one of the most innovative public law offices in the State of Georgia. Attorneys are assigned to one of six divisions which concentrate on the following practice areas:
