Nothing To Read? Try A Classic!
Have you ever been at home-or even the library!-and you can’t figure out what to read? That happened tome over the weekend-I’d read everything on my shelves at home and nothing on the New York Times bestseller list seemed interesting to me. I searched online for some suggestions, and stumbled across an old friend-Random House’s Modern Library.
This series publishes classic novels in very attractive hardback and paperback copies. More importantly, they have 2 lists that you might want to take a look at: 100 Best Novels and 100 Best Nonfiction; these lists are broken down into a list created by the Board of the Modern Library and a list created by readers. Both of the lists for each category have many of the same titles, though not all and not in the same order.
This is a great opportunity for me (and I know I’m not the only one!) to go back to some classics I missed in high school and college, or substituted with Cliff Notes! You can check the AFPLS catalog here for the titles on the list that you are interested in!
