Transportation Division

The Mission of the Fulton County Transportation Division is to serve the public by providing a transportation system and services that emphasize safety, quality, cost effectiveness, economic vitality and sensitivity to the environment.

The Transportation Division of Public Works is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the County’s infrastructure. It provides a variety of services to the citizens of Fulton County, internal operating departments, and governmental agencies. This division is comprised of Transportation Planning, Traffic Operations, Construction & Maintenance, and the Solid Waste Management Program.



PLANNING SECTION
The Planning Section is responsible for Transportation Planning and Capital Improvement Program; both short and long-range in Fulton County, oversight of the Five Year Roadway Improvement Program, implementation of federally and locally funded projects with the Georgia Department of Transoportation (GDOT) and Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC).


TRAFFIC OPERATIONS
Traffic Operations is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and operating all traffic control devices. This section is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data, manufacturing and installing traffic signs, monitoring traffic travel demand and maintaining traffic control devices, provides oversight of street markings and striping, and coordinating street light installation to provide safe pedestrian and vehicular movement.


CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE SECTIONS
The Construction & Maintenance Section is responsible for routine evaluation and maintenance of roads, bridges, sidewalks, curbs, unpaved roads and storm water facilities according to established state performance and safety standards; coordinating and managing the Comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Program (CPMP), Service Management, Project Development and Quality Management Programs; management and service system to monitor and schedule labor, equipment, and materials and work orders for construction and maintenance work activities.
