Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections


GENERAL ELECTION – NOVEMBER 4, 2008

 

The state of Georgia will hold its General Election on November 4th, 2008. The National Democratic and Republican Parties have nominated their Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of the United States of America. The November 4th Election, is the final step in electing the next President and Vice President. The Election is conducted by the County, State, and Federal Governments.

This historical Election is expected to have record turnouts statewide. As the largest County in the state of Georgia, Fulton County Election Officials are preparing for an estimated turnout of over 80% of registered voters. Therefore, citizens of FultonCounty are strongly urged to take advantage of additional voting options offered which include Voting Absentee in Person, Voting Absentee by Mail and Advance Voting.

In Person Absentee will begin at the Fulton County Government Center, South Service Center and North Service Center on September 22, 2008. Advance Voting will take place the week of October 27th through the 31st at seven different locations, which include the Fulton County Government Center, South Service Center, North Service Center, Welcome All Park, Adamsville Recreation Center, Hembree Recreation Center and Northeast Spruill Oaks Library(click on Advanced Voting Locations).

Voter Registration

Prior to voting in an election in Fulton County, you must be a registered voter.
Voter Registration is a county function. Georgia Counties issue voter registration cards after reviewing and processing applications submitted by county citizens who are eligible to be registered voters in the State of Georgia.

Fulton County's Voter Registration Division is committed to ensuring that the registration process is provided to all eligible citizens in accordance with applicable laws and regulations in the most efficient, effective and timely manner for Fulton County and it's fourteen municipalities.

Absentee Voting

Applications for Absentee Ballots may be received up to 180 days prior to an election. Military and Overseas Voters may apply up to 1460 days in advance (4 years) for ballots through the second General Election. §21-2-219(d). In-person voting at Voter Registration Office sites begins 45 days prior to an election, or 21 days for Municipal Elections. Applications may be one of the following:
