SUMMARY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FULTON COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH (BOH)

The following is a general summary of actions taken by the Fulton Board of Health at their May 10, 2017 regular meeting.

The meeting of the Fulton County Board of Health was called to order by Kathleen E. Toomey, Fulton County District Health Director

1. INTRODUCTIONS
Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H. District Health Director, introduced  the members to the public.

2. SWEARING IN OF NEW MEMBERS BY TONYA GRIER, CLERK OF COMMISSION
Interim County Clerk to the Commission (Tonya Grier) swore in the members.


3. ADOPTION OF BOARD BYLAWS


The BOH adopted its bylaws with Jack Hardin making a motion to amend the bylaws regarding the quorum provision. The motion passed and the bylaws will be revised as adopted.


4. ELECTION OF OFFICERS (CHAIR, VICE CHAIR, SECRETARY)


The elected officers are as follows: Chair- Dr. Otis Brawley, who in his absence was voted as the Chair; Vice Chair - Mr. Hardin; and Secretary - Lynn Meadows.


5. APPOINTMENT OF DISTRICT HEALTH DIRECTOR

  • Dr. Toomey was nominated by the Commissioner of the State Department of Public Health (Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald) to be appointed as the District Health Director. The BOH confirmed the nomination as required by law.

6. APPROVAL OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (IGA) WITH FULTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

  • The BOH approved the IGA between Fulton County Government and the BOH, and authorized Dr. Toomey to execute same.

7. DISCUSSION – FREQUENCY AND TIMING OF MEETINGS

 

  • The BOH moved to hold the agenda item regarding setting the dates and times of the regular meeting because of Dr. Brawley’s absence. They agreed that Dr. Toomey would poll the members regarding the date and time of the next meeting.
