On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Mr. Richard â€śDickâ€ť Anderson as County Manager. The Board identified Anderson as the sole finalist for the position after an extensive search.
Anderson began work, Thursday, March 5, leading Fulton Countyâ€™s approximately 5,000 employees in service to nearly 1 million residents. He brings to this position an extensive career in executive leadership in both the public and private sectors. Notably, Anderson achieved a distinguished career in telecommunications, rising from account executive to Vice Chairman of BellSouth and then Group President for AT&T, where he was responsible for a $30 billion business serving global business clients.
Most recently, Anderson served as Chief Operating Officer at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. He previously served as Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority in the Administration of Governor Sonny Perdue. Anderson has long been involved in the Atlanta community and was named one of the 100 Most Influential Atlantans by the Business Chronicle. He served as the 2007 Chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of Marcus Autism Center, Childrenâ€™s Healthcare, MARTA, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, Georgia Higher Education Facilities Authority, Clark Atlanta University, and Camp Twin Lakes.
Anderson earned a BS in Marketing and MBA from Murray State University and was named Distinguished Alumnus (1994), Faculty Fellow in Business (2005) and Trustee (2014). He and his wife Maureen and three children reside in Roswell.
