New Drinking Water Connections | Print |

Drinking Water Availability

Engineering personnel will assess the technical requirements and cost implications to connect to the County’s drinking water distribution system and advise applicants accordingly. Upon satisfaction of all the requirements and payment of the stipulated fee, a work order will be issued to install the new connection. New customers are provided with a letter explaining water and sewer rates, along with other helpful information.

To simply turn on an existing connection contact the Finance Department.

Drinking Water Service Petitions

In areas where drinking water service is currently unavailable homeowners can petition the County to extend drinking water service to their homes. Upon receipt of a petition, staff will review the area to determine if the service can reach the petitioners and will contact the homeowners.

If the conditions are favorable, a preliminary design will be completed for the extension and a package will be submitted to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners for approval of the petition. Upon approval, final design and installation can occur. During the process, a homeowners meeting is set up to explain the petition process, design impacts and construction process. Any easements that may be required from the petitioners are to be donations as part of the petition process.

Irrigation Meters
North Georgia is currently in a Level 2 drought and Public Works has suspended issuing irrigation meters.

Diverted Water Program

Fulton County has a diverted water program for those large users of water where a significant portion of the water is not returned to the wastewater collection system. With the proper certification, such a customer may be able to reduce their sewer charges.
