read the labels of all household cleaners Household products that contain hazardous ingredients are safe to use when you follow label directions. However, if misused, stored, or disposed of improperly (e.g., down a storm drain or in the yard), household hazardous waste can contaminate ground or surface water, injure homeowners or solid waste management personnel, and harm septic tank systems. These products contain chemicals that are corrosive, explosive, reactive, flammable or toxic.



This program promotes the proper use and disposal of common household products that are prevalent in homes and businesses, such as:

  • Automotive Products
  • Home Improvement Products
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Household Cleaners
  • Unused Medications
