Fulton County Fire Rescue Recognized by Governor Deal for 2014 Snow Storm Efforts | Print |

Grateful resident recommended Fire Station #13 for Commendation

On January 28, 2014, Fulton County Fire Rescue Station #13 jumped in to action. They were not fighting fires as to be expected, they were recuing residents stranded by snow storm 2014. Fire Caption Gregory Chambers passed the path of Ms. Lavern Warren, who identifies herself as a “Grateful citizen” in a letter she wrote to Governor Nathan Deal to extol the heroism and kindness of the Fulton County fire team who provided safe refuge, food and warmth from the snow storm that caused many to be stranded.

According to Ms. Warren’s letter, Captain Chambers “wasn’t waiting for people to just show up at the fire station, he was seeking them out. No one was turned away.” It was because of his efforts and other members of Fire Station #13, about 25 people were rescued from the storm.

Governor Deal sent a letter of commendation to the station for their efforts that read, ‘’Our state is fortunate to have such outstanding emergency responders like you who daily serve, both directly and indirectly, the people by making Georgia a safer place to live.”

Fulton in All-Out Push to Get Citizens Signed-up for Health Coverage | Print |

According to the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, health insurance coverage is a major determinant of access to health care. The agency also concludes the uninsured with chronic health conditions are substantially less likely to make regular clinic or doctor visits, relying instead on emergency room care for treatment.
