Vision: The Office of Health Promotion envisions Fulton County being ranked number one in the Health Outcomes County Ranking System. (Currently ranked 24th)
Mission: To encourage optimal wellness in Fulton County through evidence-based public health education and promotion strategies by setting fair and adequate baselines of care for all.
2011 Overarching Goals: Utilizing comprehensive approaches to prevention and awareness of chronic diseases which includes engagement of individuals and communities across the continuum of stages of behavior change. Creating a tobacco free atmosphere for Fulton County residents. Collaborating with community partners and agencies to identify and acquire external resources for health promotion programs and activities. Implementing a multifaceted employee wellness program to promote and improve the health of Fulton County employees.
Objectives: The Health Promotion Division works to inform, educate and empower Fulton County residents by providing the following services.
1. Public presentations are offered in the following areas:
a) Cardiovascular Health b) Cervical and Breast Cancer Awareness c) Stroke d) Injury Prevention e) Youth and Adult Tobacco Prevention Education f) Diabetes Awareness g) Bullying Awareness and Prevention
2. Engaging and mobilizing organizations and individuals to disseminate information; finding solutions to health related issues (capacity building on various levels
3. Leveraging attention to disease prevention and health promotion by coordinating with national and local organizations regarding health observances throughout the year
4. Exhibiting information at local health fairs and community events
5. Coordinating comprehensive communication and health marketing strategies
6. Engaging social, political and corporate leaders to enact policy and environmental change that focuses on resources and promotes health in the community
7. Analyzing and communicating ideas for policy improvements
8. Work-site wellness promotion
9. Collaboration between grant writers, the Health Promotion Coalition and other entities to enhance marketing, outreach and resource utilization |
