In conjunction with Friends of Wolf Creek and Opus Cultural Lifestyle Magazine, Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. will host the first annual Write to Rise Young Writer’s Workshop and Competition.   Fifty slots in the workshop and subsequent competition are available on a first-come-first-served basis to students currently attending high school in Fulton County. The WTR Workshop sessions will be held on Saturdays, 10am-2pm: June 10, 17, 24 & July 8, 15, 22 at Wolf Creek Library; 3100 Enon Rd, Atlanta, GA 30349.  Free lunch will be provided.

“Writing is essential for our students and can open many doors for them,” said District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. “We want students to have an opportunity to hone this skill, so that they can rise to the top.”

The goal of the program is to provide the encouragement, resources, training and inspiration young writers need to stimulate their imaginations and challenge their potential.   This valuable opportunity will foster the development of the participants’ enthusiasm for and expertise in literary works, as well as provide a platform to celebrate their success as writers.   The workshop will include authors, writers, and industry professionals who will help guide participants through a comprehensive preparation program focusing on personal and professional development of writing skills.

Participants are automatically entered into the WTR Competition, gaining a chance to win 1st, 2nd & 3rd place scholarships and prizes.   The winning students will also have their work published in Opus Cultural Lifestyle Magazine.   The writing submissions will be accepted from June 30, 2017 to July 31, 2017 and the awards event will be held in August 2017.
