Fulton County Launches Dial-A-Ride Transportation Services for Seniors

Many Fulton County seniors have a new source for safe and reliable transportation with the launch of new¬†Dial-a-Ride Transporation Services (DARTS).¬†
The¬†DARTS program is part of an overall program to enhance senior transportation services ‚Äď a critical need identified by Fulton County seniors and the County‚Äôs Department of Housing & Human Services.¬†
The program¬†is now¬†open to seniors who have been indentified by the Fulton County Office of Aging‚Äôs Case Managers, Senior Center Managers, and Senior Multipurpose Facility Managers. To be eligible, seniors must be a Fulton County resident age 55 or older who are able to perform basic tasks independently and have limited access to transportation.
Four buses equipped with wheelchair lifts provide seniors with regularly scheduled transportation to grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, post offices, and other locations within their community.¬†
The County has purchased the needed buses for the DARTS program¬†using stimulus bonds.¬†
