Grandparent Program Volunteer Holiday Celebration | Print |

On Monday, December 13, 2010, the Atlanta Community Access Coalition-Corporation for National and Community Service Foster Grandparent Program participants will be recognized for their efforts.  Participants of this program are seniors ages 55 and up.  They take time out of their schedules to nurture disadvantaged or disabled youth.

The program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Fulton County Government Center Assembly Hall.  The guest speaker for the event is District 5 Commissioner Emma I. Darnell.  The government center is located at 141 Pryor Street Atlanta, Georgia 30303.  A luncheon will follow the program and will be held in the Atrium of the government center.

The ACAC-CNCS (Corporation for National Community Services) Foster Grandparent program has over 140 foster grandparents participating in the program.  It serves approximately 600 special needs children in both Fulton and DeKalb counties.  The program is the largest of its type in the State of Georgia.  The vast majority of volunteers, children and worksites are located within Fulton County.  The foster grandparents that participate in this program work with newborns, preschool and elementary school children.
