The Fulton County Board of Commissioners today approved F.R.E.S.H. (Fulton Roundtable Expanded Services Headquarters) grant awards. The grants support non-profit organizations that provide programs and services to children from birth to 21 years old. The grants would operate from July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012. All grant applicants were required to address at least one of the following board goals to be eligible for funding consideration: Health and Human Services, Children and Youth Services, Juvenile Justice Services and Criminal Justice Services.

The grant awards total $1,850,000. Successful applicants were recommended by the 2011-2012 F.R.E.S.H. Grant Community Advisory Board. The funds will come from the current Housing and Human Services Department budget. Grant awards will go to organizations within Commission Districts 3 through 7. The awards address issues affecting at-risk youth such as pregnancy prevention, youth leadership development, diabetes management education and after school programs.
