Fulton County Vice Chair ¬†Emma I. Darnell and the Fulton County Board of Commissioners have announced the Grand Opening of the new and expanded Adamsville Regional Health Center, 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta, on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
The new Adamsville Health Center is a major component of a comprehensive program designed to reduce and eliminate the high rate of health disparities in Fulton County by improving access to integrated, coordinated, quality healthcare. Services at the new facility will include primary care, public health and behavioral health services, housing assistance, employment assistance, dental services, a resource center and a drop in day care center.
The estimated $8 million dollar project involved the purchase of 4 acres of land located near the current Adamsville health center. The new site includes a community garden and space for visiting farmer‚Äôs markets and a walking trail.¬† The Adamsville Regional Health Center Service Area includes the Adamsville, Carroll Heights and the Center Hill communities.
‚ÄúThe Board of Commissioners has adopted the policy of the National Association of Counties (NACo) ‚Äď ‚ÄėZero Tolerance for Health Disparities‚Äô,‚ÄĚ Vice Chair Darnell stated.¬† ‚ÄúThis project is an important step by the Board of Commissioners to do more than talk the talk of health disparities, but walk the walk.‚ÄĚ
