The Wolf Creek Amphitheater and J.D. Entertainment, LLC presents the 2012 Gospel Explosion.Â Â This concert features gospel powerhouses such as: Pastor Shirley Caesar, Dottie Peoples, The Canton Spirituals, Keith â€śWonder Boyâ€ť Johnson and Gospel Comedian of the Year, Sistah Willie Ruth Johnson. The 2012 Gospel Explosion Concert will be held on Saturday, October 6, at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater located at 3025 Merk Road, Atlanta, GA 30349. The concert starts at 6:00 p.m. and gates open as early as 4:00 p.m.

Â Shirley Caesar is an iconic Gospel artist who has traveled the world spreading the Gospel and breaking down barriers for Gospel artists. She is a multiple Grammy Award nominee and 11 time winner that has truly exemplified Gospel music to the core. She has sung for Presidents and world leaders, yet is also at home pastoring to a thriving church in Raleigh-Durham. Shirley Caesar started out in the early 60's singing with the group the Caravans, and went on as a solo artist in 1966. She has released OVER 30 solo albums during her career.
Gospel vocalist, songwriter, producer, tour director, businesswoman, and spokesperson Dottie Peoples has been a star in the gospel music industry for more than 30 years, since she was nine years old. Called the Songbird of the South by Atlanta WAOK radio announcer Brother Esmond Patterson, Peoples won the top four honors at the 1995 Stellar Awards with her album, On Time God. Since then she has perpetually won or been nominated for many awards.
The Canton Spirituals are often described an accomplished gospel quartet that has paved the way for many gospel groups and singers. Founded in Canton, Mississippi, the original group included the songwriter and singer, Harvey Watkins, Sr., who began to sing in the group at the age of fourteen, and the other original members: Eddie Jackson, Theo Thompson, and Roscoe Lucious (Mississippi Almanac 1997-1998).The Canton Spirituals has remained the number one gospel music quartet in the country. They represent the best of the past and present in gospel music (i music). Their album, Live in Memphis I, received a Grammy nomination.
Keith â€śWonderboyâ€ť JohnsonÂ is a gifted vocalist with The Spiritual Voices whose sound echo the spirit of old favorites. The Spiritual Voices consist of Johnson, Hezekiah Bethea, and Ray â€śJuniorâ€ť Braswell, Jr. From the release of their first project with Worldwide Music, Inc. in 1998 entitled, â€śThrough the Stormâ€ť, featuring the hit single, â€śHide Behind the Mountainâ€ť, Keith â€śWonderboyâ€ť Johnson and the Spiritual Voices has bridged the gap in the family of listeners, gaining notoriety among the young and the old. In 1999, with the release of their sophomore project, â€śLive and Aliveâ€ť, came the gospel anthem, â€śI Just Wanna Be Right.â€ť This â€śquartet prodigyâ€ť has sold over 500,000 units since the dawn of their career in 1997.
Sistah Willie Ruth Johnson is just one of the many fictional characters that live inside Sherre Miller Bishop. The telling-it-straight-before-its-too-late, church lady, character is one of many. Sherreâ€™s Christian drama ministry takes her across the United States sharing her gifts. In March, 2005, she performed as a winner in the dramatic arts category for the 12th Annual Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival. In 2007, Sherre appeared in "God's Trombones," with former NFL star, Eddie George and Second Chance, actor, Jeff Carr. She was also the featured lead in Nicolle Whalenâ€™s feature film short, â€śThe Secret Closet,â€ť as Henrietta, the mother of a dysfunctional family tragically affected by AIDS.
