Cooper, a former drug dealer who served prison time for his gang and drug activities, and Brown told their stories Wednesday during the “Be Heard: A Youth Crime Prevention Summit” for teens ages 12-17.  The July 10, 2013, summit allowed teens to talk about gangs, drugs and crime while interacting with experienced professionals who specialize in the prevention of bullying, gangs, drug trafficking and other issues affecting young people.

Summit organizers used Polleverywhere.com to obtain instant feedback, responses and answers to questions posed during the event.  Students used their cell phones to text responses throughout the summit. Fulton County agencies participating in the event included the Clerk of Superior Court, the Marshal’s Office, Fulton County Police, Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s office, the Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Children and Youth and the Facilities and Transportation Department. Operation Correct Start participated as a community sponsor. V103’s Greg Street served as the moderator.
