Fulton County to Conduct Recount in Commission District 7 Race | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections will conduct an official recount today in the Fulton County Commission District 7 to confirm the winner. The recount will begin at 10:00 a.m. at  Fulton County Elections Preparation Center (EPC),  1365 English Street,  Atlanta, GA 30318.

Georgia law governing elections says that when the difference in the number of votes between candidates is less than 1 percent of the total votes cast, a recount request can be made by the losing candidate.

The May 20, 2014 Primary Election for the Fulton County Commission District 7 between John Eaves and Robb Pitts was very close, Pitts trailed incumbent Chairman John Eaves by just 315 votes in the final tally of ballots cast in last week’s primary election – less than 1 percent.

Candidate Robb Pitts formally asked Fulton County Registration and Elections officials for a recount in the District 7 election. Whoever prevails in the recount will be declared the winner for this race.
