Commissioner Pitts Says Sunday Alcohol Sales Vote Would Mirror Casino Gambling Vote
Fulton County Commissioner Robb Pitts (District 2, At-Large) says that the November 8, 2011 Tuesday vote – showing overwhelming support of Sunday alcohol sales – would mirror a vote on casino gambling in Georgia.
“The politicians finally caught up with the people. The support for Sunday alcohol sales was overwhelming. I firmly believe we would see the same with casinos, if allowed to vote.”
A recent study conducted on behalf of the Georgia Lottery Corporation indicates that three casinos in Georgia could generate $1 billion in revenue by 2014.
“With billions of dollars at stake, it is foolish to deny the people the opportunity to voice their opinion on casinos,” said Commissioner Pitts. “The Sunday liquor sale vote is a strong indicator that the Georgia residents of today would also support casinos. Because we haven’t given them a choice, they are flocking to Biloxi, Cherokee, and Las Vegas in droves. We are losing money every day we don’t have casinos in this state.”
