On Thursday, December 17, 2009, the public health nurses from the Fulton County Neighborhood Union Health Center will be at the West End Library from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm to administer seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccinations to interested residents.
The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine is $25. There is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer our library patrons those things they most need, and staying healthy is certainly a top priority. Our libraries continually adapt to changing community needs and desires, and we expand our reach by effectively working with other Fulton County departments.” John F. Szabo, Director, Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System.
The newly renovated Neighborhood Union Health Center located at 186 Sunset Avenue in Atlanta is the pilot project for Fulton County’s strategy to address health disparities and improve service delivery. In addition to providing public health services such as adult dental care, immunizations and communicable disease treatment, the Neighborhood Union Health Center also offers behavioral and mental health assistance, job placement assistance and primary care services through a partnership with the Morehouse School of Medicine.
“This collaboration between health services and library services allows us to reach more to residents at non-traditional medical sites,” states Patrice A. Harris, MD, Director of Health Services. “It is our hope that this endeavor allows us to provide needed vaccinations to people in the community.”
The West End Library Branch is located at 525 Peeples Street, SW Atlanta, Georgia 30310. For more information you may call the branch at (404) 752-8740. |
