The Classification and Compensation Division prepares, revises, and maintains job specifications for approximately 800 classifications in the classified and unclassified service, ensuring that minimum qualifications are not unduly restrictive or create artificial barriers to employment.
Classification and Compensation also:
- Recommends salary ranges for all new positions to the Personnel Director;
- Responds to requests from County departments for the establishment of new classes, range changes, title changes, position abolishment, and reclassifications;
- Conducts in-service training on the Fair Labor standards Act (FLSA) to new managers/supervisors;
- Updates/publishes the County's Pay Schedule and Compensation Plan (annually);
- Develops/publishes a Fulton County Government Career Guide (biennially);
- Conducts community salary surveys (biennially) to ensure County salaries remain competitive with public and private sector markets;
- Prepares and maintains reports, such as the EEO-4 report (required by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)) and the labor turnover report (required by the Department of Labor) in keeping with federal mandates.
