Medical Services

More than 700 people each year learn through the clinic that they are infected with HIV. Some of our services include:

  • Complete physical assessment
  • Lab work for HIV care and disease stages
  • Medications for HIV disease and minor illnesses
  • Physician referrals for services not available at the clinic (major illnesses)

Persons who test positive for HIV meet HIV Clinic physicians the same day they learn the diagnosis, and begin a full-service outpatient program with a team approach that educates and supports patients and their families.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services

Mental and emotional wellness services are tailored to meet most client needs. Therapists are specially trained to assist with:

  • Addiction and recovery
  • Coping with long-term illness
  • Grief
  • Trauma
  • Early childhood issues

Dental Services

Basic Dental services are offered to all clients who are HIV positive. Dental health is as important as the medication you take. Among the services are:

Case Management

Our case managers are highly skilled at helping HIV-positive clients improve living conditions. They help obtain public benefits such as:

  • Housing

Workers also offer other resources that are necessary to meet the basic needs for living in society.

Education

Health educators provide one-on-one information to HIV-positive patients and families, emphasizing:

  • Nutrition and HIV
  • Risk reduction
  • HIV education
  • Substance abuse
  • Adherence to therapy

They are also taught the importance of understanding the importance of T-cell counts, viral load, partner notification, and supporting the immune system. Referrals are made for other services in the Department of Health and Wellness, and in the community.

Support Group

The Together for Life support group meets every Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The goal is to provide a safe and caring environment where individuals can come and share experiences and concerns with others who are HIV-positive.
