DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES SERVICES | Print |

The Training Centers operated by the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities offer the following services to adult consumers:

academics,children,computers,education,girls,kids,learning,PCs,persons,photographs,schools,students,technologies

 

  • Pre-Vocational Training – this program prepares consumers for the following:
  1. Enter the Workforce
  2. Value the importance of attendance and timeliness
  3. Exhibit increased attention span and task completion
  4. Enhance problem solving skills
  5. Understand safety requirements
  6. Engage in appropriate workplace socialization
  • Community Integration – provides opportunities for persons with disabilities to live, work and play in the community the same way as everyone else
  • Individual & Group Training – creates one-on-one or group setting opportunities for individuals to improve in various identified areas
  • Daily Living Skills – this program enables consumers to develop their skills that are used to perform everyday activities, such as: cleaning, meal preparation, money management, laundry, and self-care
  • Socialization Skills – consumers are taught to recognize and manage appropriate social behaviors
  • Individualized Services Plans & Assessments – this is an annual assessment and person centered goal planning to establish the consumer’s needs and desires
  • Parent Training & Support Groups – provides caregiver/parental resources and information to increase advocacy for individuals with disabilities
  • Supported Employment Referrals – provides assistance with referrals to appropriate providers
  • Medication Administration – medical personnel provide prescribed medication during training center participation
  • Physician Assessments – these medical evaluations are provided annually, and as needed by a medical doctor.
Skills Training – topics include: Daily Living Activities; Communication Skills; Reducing Inappropriate Behaviors; Managing Money; participating in Social & Recreational Activities; and Advocacy
