Senior Virtual Classes

Residents 55 years-old and older can participate in free online classes offered Monday through Friday at various hours. Most classes are about 30 minutes and cover topics including fitness, art, life enrichment, nutrition and computers. 

Participants are encouraged to review the schedule below and then email seniorservices@fultoncountyga.gov and use the subject line ‘Senior Virtual Programming for more information on how to join the classes via Zoom. 

The Senior Virtual Classes will also be recorded and placed on the Senior Services YouTube Channel. Links to each playlist are below.

Monday

Art

11:00 a.m.

"Inspirations for Art" - Presenting ideas and sources of inspiration to artists working at home in isolation. Some art history and introduction to lesser known artists from the past and present. Class from 6/15 through 7/27

1:30 p.m.

"Beyond The Stage" - Here we will find your voice, begin custome design, begin set design, storytelling, and increasing your memory!

2:00 p.m

"Art Share" -  We get to share art we are currently creating or artwork we made previously.  We can also talk about the art and artists that inspires us whether visual, musical, cinematic or written words. Class from 6/15 through 7/27

Fitness

10:00 a.m. 

"Chair Aerobics" - Work your whole body build stamina, flexibility, strength and have fun with chair-aerobics

10:00 a.m. 

"Line Dance" Level 3A" - This class is for line dancers with a solid knowledge of dance terminology and have mastered the basic steps and can execute some complex steps and patterns

11:00a.m.

"Body Tapping/Stretch" - Participants will engage in full body tapping from head to toe to rejuvenate the nervous system followed by full body stretching exercises 

11:00 a.m. 

"Line Dance Level 3B" - This class is an extension of Line Dance Level 3A class and provides additional instruction/practice.

12:00 p.m. 

"Open Line Dance Hour" - This class provides an opportunity for freestyle line dancing.

 

 
Life Enrichment

2:00 pm.

"Inter Spanish" - Students will learn the difference between definite and indefinite articles as well as subject pronouns.

3:00 p.m.

"Creative Mindfulness" - Part 1-This class will focus on brainstorming simple hands on creative activities to be shared in the part 2 class.

4:00 p.m.

"Beg Spanish" - Learn alphabets,numbers and common key phrases.


Social

2:00 p.m. 

"Lets Chat About Gardening" - Join for an opportunity to share gardening experiences.  What are you growing? Share your plants, photos, trees, bees and recipes from your garden journey.

"Brain Games" - Participants will engage in brain stimulating activities with peers that will assist in keeping their minds sharp.

"National Black Arts Festival present ZOOMBA" - National Black Arts Festival present ZOOMBA, a dance class with the genre of African and Modern dance.

10:00 a.m.

(Starts July 21st - August 11th)

"Internet Security for Seniors" - The Internet is useful and fun but the bad guys are out there and they “love” seniors. Learn how to lock up your credit cards, protect sensitive banking and medical

information, and never get ripped off.

"Burn & Tone" - Low Impact Aerobics.

2:00 p.m.

"Advanced Spanish"- Participants in this class will learn Spanish verbs and prepositions discuss the personal A and learn the use of contractions.

"Beginning Jewelry" - Intro to Jewelry Making

"Painting & Mixed Media" - Demonstrations and discussions on the use of a variety of media will be presented as well as contemporary and classical artists and their work and influences.

"Painting Share" - Share artwork you are currently working on using painting media, ask questions or receive a critique if you request it.

"Intermediate Jewelry Making" - Jewelry techniques for the more experienced student

Fitness

"Tai Chi" - Tai Chi 24 Yang involves a series of 24 movements performed in a slow motion.  This practices focuses on breathing, balance and coordinating postures that add strength, and flexibility.

"Puzzle Pieces" Line Dance - This class is for individuals who have never line danced or has limited experience and would like to learn basic steps and dances one step at a time.....then put the

pieces together.

"Tai Chi" **Cancelled Jul3 & 24 - Basic Tai Chi movements for all levels to help provide relief from pain, strengthen lower extremities, and reduce the risk of falls.
