We Want to Do More Than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom

The Auburn Avenue Research Library, in collaboration with Charis Books and More, will host award-winning author and Associate Professor of Educational Theory & Practice at the University of Georgia, Dr. Bettina Love, who will discuss her latest publication, “We Want to Do More Than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom”. Drawing on her life’s work of teaching and researching in urban schools, Dr. Love persuasively argues that educators must teach students about racial violence, oppression, and how to make sustainable change in their communities through radical civic initiatives and movements.
