Assistant Chief Investigator, Trial Division Complex, Accountability Court, and Competency Court Units

Originally from Chicago, Bernice Higgins moved to Atlanta in August 2006 when she was accepted to Clark Atlanta University. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Science. She has been working in law enforcement for 11 years and has experience in investigations ranging from narcotics, sexual assault and homicide.

In October 2016, she joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, where she has worked in the Major Crimes Division and the Case Intake Division. In 2019, she was awarded Major Crimes Investigator of the Year after completing 10 trials with a 100 percent conviction rate. In 2021, she won a Pinnacle Award for investigative knowledge and leadership skills in Case Intake. She is honored to protect and serve the citizens of Fulton County.

In her free time, she enjoys shopping, working out, traveling and attending entertainment events such as concerts and basketball games.
