Summer Youth Job Training Program

During their May 2 meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr., District 5, creating a Summer Youth Job Training program.

The new program will be funded through Fulton County’s allocation of funding through the American Rescue Plan Act, totaling $500,000. Through partnerships with nonprofit community-based agencies, the program will specifically provide opportunities for low income and at-risk Fulton County youth to gain professional skills and hands-on paid summer work experience for calendar year 2022. The program will prepare participating youth for future career opportunities by allowing them to explore career interests, set goals and make informed decisions about educational and training pathways to achieve those goals.

The ARPA Summer Youth Job Training Program will be administered through nonprofit agencies who will in turn provide summer job training opportunities to youth 16-24 residing in Fulton County.  Funding recommendations are slated to be presented to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners for approval on June 1, 2022.  A list of the approved agencies will be made available publicly to share with Fulton County youth so that they may contact the agencies directly for possible summer job training opportunities.
