Fulton County Board of Health gives us an update on the West Nile virus. We have mosquito monitoring traps in Hapeville and Northwest Atlanta that shows that the virus is present. Hear more from Interim Health Director Fulton County Board of Health Dr. Chris Rustin. It's not unusual to see positive mosquitoes this time of year, especially given the heat and amount of rain that we've received almost every evening. They need water to lay eggs in and the heat just really speeds up the process of eggs hatching. Immediately upon receiving results, our mosquito control team started treating the area to eliminate and reduce the adult flying mosquitoes. Our environmental health team and mosquito control teams started canvasing the area the area within a quarter mile radius educating residents and leaving door knockers.
