The Softness Was Always Ours exhibition celebrates the elegance, grace, and resilience of Black womanhood throughout history. By dispelling harmful myths and highlighting the fullness of women as daughters, sisters, mothers, and leaders, the gallery offers visitors a space to reflect and connect. Hear more from Administrator Coordinator Shakia Garrett. This is who we are at our core. We are soft women. We are ladies. We are daughters. We're sisters. We're mothers. I want them to come away with something practical to talk to their mothers, sisters, and daughters about and bring them here while we have the gallery up to be reminded. If we hear that a lot more, I think that would change some of the narrative and bring about a paradigm shift. We're not hard angry women; we're soft, we're still soft.
