Happening in Fulton: Somos Herencia: Hispanic Heritage Art Exhibit at Fulton Government Center
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Fulton County is celebrating the Somos Herencia (We Are Heritage) art exhibit at the Fulton County Government Center. Hear more from Artist/Curator Reinilda Blair. It's about what we inherit as Hispanics, whether it's through family, through ancestry. I came up with this idea because Fulton Government Center never had a Hispanic Heritage Month, and we are in Hispanic Heritage Month right now and I wanted to display a bunch of local Hispanic artists here in Atlanta. This piece is called We Are the Same, and it basically is the connection between the Earth and the spiritual realm. So when it comes to being a Hispanic person, we have a lot of connection when it comes to our ancestry. I always like to think about what our ancestors are like and what do they connect to. So this piece shows the connection of the nature, the Earth, and then wherever the ancestry, and also the roots of where we come from as well. It's like a parallel universe.
