Happening in Fulton: Annual Black History Program

March 02, 2026

Fulton County's annual Black History Program was held at the Darnell Center on Fairburn Road. Hear more from Fulton County Resident Jean Blackshare Harris. I was inspired to write about Carter G. Woodson because nobody talks about the man who founded it. We talk about black history, but we don't honor I don't think Carter G. Woodson enough. I hope they were inspired and I hope they want to think more about the importance of our history, how large it is, and how much we have contributed to America. We were brought here as slaves and then virtually built this country with inventions, ideas, and all kinds of things that we use today and we never give credit to black people. I hope that not only will you celebrate Black History Month, but that you will celebrate our culture every day because we are living black history in everything we do and say, and the way we carry ourselves represents our culture and it represents us. So think about that when you speak, when you act, and whatever you do. Remember you are the living image of black history.
