The Fulton County Government Center will illuminate in green on Veterans Day.
Fulton County is inviting the public to help celebrate our local Veterans on Monday, November 6, during the Annual Operation Green Light Ceremony. At 5 p.m., Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne and District 6 Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman will honor Veterans in the Atrium of the Government Center at 141 Pryor Street, SW in Downtown Atlanta.
The Ceremony will culminate with the Government Center being illuminated in green from November 6 - 10, to demonstrate appreciation for all veterans. The mission of Operation Green Light is to show support, raise awareness about the challenges faced by many veterans, and to highlight the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.
Residents are encouraged to participate by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends. Commissioner Thorne is also encouraging businesses and governmental entities to also show support by illuminating their buildings in green throughout the week.
