IRS Executive Kenneth Corbin will serve as the guest speaker January 20
Fulton County is investing in the lives of its youth through the Rite of Passage Mentorship Series and will host guest speaker, Kenneth Corbin, IRS Commissioner of the Wage and Investment (W&I) Division, on Saturday, January 20, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Legacy Center located at 3015 RN Martin Street, East Point, GA, 30344.
Mr. Corbin serves as the Commissioner of the W&I Division, responsible for administering tax laws governing individual wage earners in the United States. He is responsible for approximately 36,000 employees located in over 350 taxpayer assistance centers, 10 service centers, and 15 remote call sites nationwide. The W&I Division serves millions of individual and business customers and is responsible for the processing of more than 150 million individual tax returns, resulting in more than 111 million individual refunds issued, totaling nearly $324 billion.
The Fulton County Department of Community Development launched the mentorship series during the summer of 2021 as part of the My Brother's Keeper Fulton County Taskforce (MBKFC). MBKFC is an initiative of the Obama Foundation's My Brother's Keeper Alliance, focusing on building safe and inclusive communities for boys and young men of color and ensuring that all young people can reach their full potential. The goal of this mentorship series, entitled "Rite of Passage," aims to support the need for positive male enrichment and essential life skills. Participants who complete 7 of the 10 sessions can participate in a culminating ceremony to celebrate the participants' Rite of Passage.
