Former Chief Judge Gail S. Tusan of the Superior Court of Fulton County is the recipient of the “Logan E. Bleckley Distinguished Service Award”
Former Chief Judge Gail S. Tusan of the Superior Court of Fulton County is the recipient of the “Logan E. Bleckley Distinguished Service Award” given annually by the Atlanta Bar Association, Litigation Section during its Bench and Bar Reception. The reception will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. An introduction and special remarks will be provided by Superior Court Judge Jane C. Barwick.
According to the Atlanta Bar Association, “The Logan E. Bleckley Distinguished Service Award is presented to an Atlanta judge in recognition of years of devoted public service as a member of the judiciary. The award is named for Logan E. Bleckley, Associate Justice from 1875 to 1879 and Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court from 1887 to 1894.”
Judge Tusan’s career as a jurist spans 35 years, having served as a City of Atlanta Administrative Law Judge, a Fulton County Magistrate Judge, and as a Trial Judge for the City Court of Atlanta and the State Court of Fulton County before joining the Superior Court of Fulton County in 1995. During her tenure with the Superior Court, Judge Tusan served for four years as the Chief Judge overseeing Georgia’s largest trial and busiest court with a multi-million dollar operating budget.

Judge Gail S. Tusan is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Law and the University of California, Los Angeles. Recently appointed as a senior judge for the State of Georgia, Judge Tusan retired from the Superior Court after a long career of distinguished service to the citizens of Fulton County on April 30, 2019.
