Second Annual Community Resource Fair Kicks Off May Mental Health Awareness Month

April 18, 2023
Fulton Courts continue to Inform, Engage, and Empower the Local Community.
The Fulton County Misdemeanor Mental Health Court (MMC) will support May Mental Health Awareness Month by sponsoring a Community Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fulton County Government Center, Outside Plaza, located at 141 Pryor Street, Atlanta, GA 30303. The goal of the event is to bring a general awareness of the providers available in Fulton County and to address behavioral health as well as educate the public regarding what county partners are doing to assist in education, employment, housing, and fitness, all of which affect mental wellness.

Fulton County’s Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk, State Court Judge Patsy Y. Porter, and Program Coordinator Georgee Corley will host the Community Resource Fair with Justice Partners and Community Providers. The free, public event will include the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Fulton Behavioral Health Network, The Dharma Project, Automotive Training Center, and other wellness providers.

“We are very excited to bring back our Community Resource Fair for a second year,” said Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk. “We see community members struggling with issues in our courtroom every day and with some help from local service providers, we can help them get to a better place and become fully involved citizens.”

The event will occur as follows:
1 p.m.- 4 p.m.   Exhibitor Tables – Representatives from community organizations, justice partners, and providers will share information as they interact with invitees and visitors.

1:30 p.m. - 3:30 pm   Open Microphone Presentations – Timing remains tentative and includes but is not limited to: Welcome and Introductions, Mental Health in Georgia Update, Physical Activity (Zumba, Yoga, Art), Music and Fun.
