FULTON COUNTY DEPARTMENT FOR HIV ELIMINATION LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

April 02, 2024
Fulton County’s Department for HIV Elimination has recently launched a new, streamlined website with client-centered features, such as ease of navigation, specifics regarding services, provider ratings and more.

This upgrade represents the department’s commitment to the 20-county metropolitan Atlanta area including Fulton County, which has the sixth-highest rate of new HIV diagnoses in the nation—a rate which also doubles the rest of Georgia—according to the Department for HIV Elimination’s Web pages.

These new features will assist those impacted by HIV in identifying nearby service providers by proximity, as well as detailed explanations regrading what their services entail. In addition, users can find provider ratings, which is a scorecard based on three criteria: retention in care, prescription of antiretrovirals, and viral load suppression, or the amount of their clients, served through department’s funding, that have suppressed the virus.

The website also features reports on grant funding, annual progress and federal funding reports, as well as data the department shares with the community through its committees and planning council.

“Clients will see that they have a choice in their HIV care, as well as access to educational videos to feel more empowered and supported with their healthcare options,” said Jeff Cheek, director for the Department for HIV Elimination.

Fulton County’s Department for HIV Elimination, formerly known as Ryan White, improves the availability and quality of core medical services to support low-income, uninsured or underinsured individuals within the 20-County Atlanta Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) who have been impacted by HIV, from Pickens, through Fulton, and down to Coweta county.

The Department for HIV Elimination funds 23 agencies in total, ranging form nonprofits, to NGOs, to health departments. The department allocates additional funding to related support services, such as non-medical case management, childcare, funding for transportation, food banks and more.
