Mental Health Awareness Month
Fulton County joins communities across the nation in recognizing May as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting individuals and families to resources that support mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being.
This year’s national theme, “More Good Days, Together,” encourages residents to reflect on what mental wellness means in their everyday lives and reminds the community that support, connection, and access to care can help make more good days possible.
Fulton County Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities, known as BHDD, provides programs and services designed to support residents across all stages of life. In 2026, Fulton County will invest $23 million in mental health care to provide free, high-quality counseling services for uninsured children and adults across the county. Fulton County also offers free and low-cost mental health services for uninsured and underinsured children and adults in communities across Fulton County, helping ensure residents have access to behavioral health support regardless of their ability to pay.
Throughout the month of May, Fulton County BHDD will continue highlighting mental health resources, community-based support, and opportunities for residents to learn more about available services. The department also encourages residents to check in with themselves, loved ones, coworkers, and neighbors, and to seek help early when additional support is needed.
Residents are encouraged to visit www.fultoncountyga.gov/mentalhealth to learn more about Fulton County behavioral health services, upcoming events, and available community resources.
Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, emotional distress, or thoughts of suicide can call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. For emergencies requiring immediate assistance, call 911.
