Fulton County is seeking young people in search of leadership roles. The application process to recruit Youth Commissioners is now open.
The Fulton County Department of Community Development is seeking high school students between 9th and 11th grades to participate in the program for the 2025-26 academic year. The application deadline is Friday, May 23, 2025, by 5:30 p.m.
The Fulton County Youth Commission (FCYC) is a leadership program for outstanding high school students in Fulton County whose primary purpose is to advocate for children and youth issues. FCYC encourages tomorrow’s leaders to get involved today. FCYC leaders receive ongoing opportunities to address the many issues presently facing youth.
“Our investments in the Youth Commission empower our young people to be leaders and become involved in the local government process,” said Stan Wilson, Director, Fulton County Community Development. “We must equip our young men and women with skills that encourage leadership and service.”
Youth Commissioners volunteer as many as 20 hours per month for planning meetings and community projects and over 120 hours annually. FCYC strengthens the participant’s leadership skills, increases interest in human services, and creates a means for communication between community leaders and youth in Fulton County. Responsibilities of the 30 Youth Commissioners selected each year include volunteer projects, serving as liaisons to youth, and helping local government understand the issues that impact young people.
