Fulton County is once again bringing mental health awareness to the forefront. As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting good mental health, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners will proclaim May as Mental Health Awareness Month during its May 7, 2025 meeting. This annual proclamation aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health issues.
This year, Fulton County is embracing the national 2025 theme: “Turn Awareness into Action.” The theme underscores the importance of moving beyond recognition toward meaningful, lasting change in how mental health is understood, supported, and treated.
“As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is embracing the theme ‘Turn Awareness into Action’ – a powerful reminder that recognizing the importance of mental health is only the first step,” said LaTrina Foster, Director of Fulton County DBHDD. “True progress happens when we commit to supporting one another and fostering environments where mental well-being is a shared priority. Let’s lead with empathy, intention, and create lasting change together.”
Throughout May, the DBHDD will host a series of events and community engagements to expand access to resources, promote open conversations, and encourage positive mental health habits:
