Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne has been selected as part of the 2025 class of the Regional Leadership Institute, a prestigious leadership program offered through the Atlanta Regional Commission.
Commissioner Thorne will join other leaders from across the region in the government, civic, education, and business sectors as they explore complex issues including housing affordability, transit and transportation planning, economic development, and workforce development, others. Together, the cohort will share knowledge, learn, and discuss key policy issues for a stronger region.
“I am excited for this opportunity to join with other leaders from around metro Atlanta and to dive into the issues that face all of us across the region,” said Commissioner Thorne. “I am always interested in hearing new ideas and solutions that could benefit Fulton County residents.”
Commissioner Thorne represents Fulton County District 1, which encompasses Johns Creek and parts of Roswell, Alpharetta, and Sandy Springs. She joined the Board of Commissioners in 2023, representing a district of more than 180,000 residents – a population greater than 146 of Georgia’s 159 counties.
In her professional life, Commissioner Thorne is a professional software designer and a grassroots community advocate and volunteer. She is a Certified Commissioner through the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).
Bridget earned her Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design from Georgia Tech, which she attended on a track scholarship.
