Fulton County Recognizes the Importance of Providing Quality Water During National Observance
Providing safe reliable drinking water is a top priority in Fulton County. To showcase the efforts of the men and women working tirelessly in the Department of Public Works, the county will officially recognize National Drinking Water Week May 3 – 9, 2026.
Public Works will mark the observance by engaging the community in understanding the vital role of clean, safe water in daily life, including its importance for public health and environmental protection. Drinking Water Week also acknowledges and celebrates the essential water professionals whose expertise and commitment ensure the delivery of high-quality tap water every day.
The Department of Public Works will recognize the week by providing a behind the scenes look at how the county takes water from source to tap. Public Works will host a tour for the public at the Tom Lowe Atlanta-Fulton County Water Treatment Plant in Johns Creek on Thursday, May 7. Homeschool students and families joining the tour are invited to stay afterward for a fun hands-on water filtration activity.
