Fulton County Celebrates Seniors in Honor of Older Americans Month 2026

April 30, 2026
Month-long observance highlights programs, services, and resources supporting older adults across Fulton County.

Fulton County’s Board of Commissioners will proclaim May as Older Americans Month during its May 6, 2026 meeting, recognizing the contributions and impact of older adults across Fulton County and the nation, and their role in strengthening our communities.

Each May, Fulton County joins communities nationwide in recognizing Older Americans Month, highlighting the importance of supporting older adults through programs that promote health, wellness, and community engagement.

“Older Americans Month is an opportunity to recognize the contributions and impact of older adults across Fulton County,” said Dr. Pamela Roshell, Chief Operating Officer for Health, Human Services, and Public Works. “We are focused on advancing healthy aging and ensuring our seniors have access to the resources and support they need to live well and remain engaged in their communities.”

Fulton County Senior Services will host a series of events and programs throughout May 2026, offering opportunities for wellness, engagement, and community connection. Programming will include health initiatives, fitness events, educational workshops, and cultural activities across senior facilities. Highlights include the Walk for Wellness, Senior Olympics-style competitions, fitness and field day activities, arts programming, and social engagement opportunities such as themed dances and community celebrations.

“Older Americans Month highlights the importance of connecting older adults with programs and services that support their health, independence, and overall well-being,” said Dr. Kweli Henry, Deputy Director of Fulton County Senior Services. “Through these efforts, seniors are able to stay active, engaged, and thrive in their communities.”

A key highlight for 2026 is the opening of the new Fulton County Multipurpose and Adult Day Health Facility on May 11, 2026, at the Health and Human Services North site, located at 4700 Northpoint Parkway. The facility will expand access to services for older adults in North Fulton.

Fulton County remains committed to supporting older adults through services including home-delivered meals, transportation, home support, and programs that enhance independence and quality of life.
