Fulton County Announces Prom Safety Campaign Winner

Fulton County Celebrates Benjamin E Mays High School as Prom Safety Winner

Students were recognized on Prom Night, Saturday, April 25.
Fulton County has named Benjamin E. Mays High School as the winner of its 2026 Prom Safety Campaign Competition, recognizing students for their efforts to promote safe and responsible driving behaviors during prom season.

The contest, hosted by the Fulton County Youth Commission (FCYC), was open to senior classes across Atlanta and Fulton County schools. Mays High School earned the top spot for its student-led campaign video encouraging peers to avoid impaired driving and stay safe on prom night.

As part of the recognition, the school was awarded a $1,200 check during prom night on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The check was provided by Teens in the Drive Seat and their sponsorship partners State Farm and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

Leading up to the event, FCYC Coordinator Reginald Crossley, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, hosted three interactive workshops on Thursday, April 23. Approximately 300 seniors participated in sessions that featured a 3D driving simulation and scenario-based discussions focused on real life safe driving practices.

In addition, campaign partner A-Tow Atlanta reinforced the safety message by placing a crashed vehicle in front of Mays High School as a visual reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of making responsible choices.

“Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge and awareness needed to make safe decisions, especially during high-risk times like prom season,” said Crossley.

To further reinforce these efforts, the Fulton County Youth Commission will host a 360 Vehicle Inspection Program with campaign partner AAA for students and teachers in early May, providing additional resources to promote vehicle safety and preparedness.
