Sustainability Networking Breakfast Serves Up Collaboration
May 22, 2026
Fulton County is taking the lead in coordinating sustainability efforts among the area’s public organizations. One step in this process took place Tuesday, March 17, at the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center.
The conference center adjacent to the Fulton County Executive Airport was the venue for a Sustainability Networking Breakfast organized by Jessica Lavender, Energy & Sustainability manager for the Fulton County Department of Real Estate & Asset Management (DREAM).
Its purpose was for staff working on sustainability in Fulton to become familiar with each other and share information on their respective projects and programs. This is the first time such a collaborative event has been held.
Invitations went to environmental and sustainability staff from cities and related organizations in Fulton County. Fourteen people attended, including from multiple Fulton County departments and Fulton County Citizens’ Commission on the Environment; the cities of Alpharetta, Atlanta and South Fulton; Atlanta Regional Commission and the Southeast Sustainability Director’s Network.
Over breakfast from Sweet Glory Catering, attendees familiarized each other with their respective aims and efforts, and discussed opportunities to collaborate for greater impact.
Lavender is now working with the Atlanta Regional Commission to coordinate a workshop on solar power; Fulton County is in the midst of installing solar panels on dozens of its buildings, in partnership with Cherry Street Energy.
Participants hope to make the Sustainability Networking Breakfast an annual event. Sustainability staff will seek to work together more closely in general, such as in holding training events or arranging guest speakers.
