Happening in Fulton: Fulton County Honors Artist Gilbert Young with Proclamation for His Legacy and 85th Birthday
Fulton County celebrated acclaimed artist Gilbert Young with a proclamation recognizing his lifelong contributions to the arts, his service to the community, and his 85th birthday. Hear more from Fulton County Arts & Culture Director David Manuel. At our BOC meeting we presented the man, the king, Mr. Gilbert, the award and proclamation for his continuous work in the community and his continuous work as an artist. It's interesting because it's on a day where we get our agenda item for our $3 million that we give out to serve artists. Vice Chair Khadijah presented this proclamation along with full support from all the Board of Commissioners because they recognize the impact that art makes in the community. They also know that in our department we make art accessible to everyone, and to give this a proclamation and allow Mr. Young to speak to the public in terms of how he got started, where he is today, and to celebrate him turning 85 young is a privilege to be part of the moment.
