Fulton County Releases 2026 Point-in-Time Count Report

Report provides annual snapshot of homelessness trends across Fulton County.

Fulton County's Continuum of Care (CoC) has released the 2026 Point-in-Time Count (PITC) Report, providing an annual snapshot of homelessness across Fulton County, excluding the City of Atlanta.
Conducted on January 22, 2026, the Point-in-Time Count provides critical data that informs local planning, resource allocation, and strategies to address homelessness. The findings also fulfill federal reporting requirements to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and serve as an important benchmark for tracking local trends over time.

"The Point-in-Time Count helps us better understand the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness across Fulton County," said Stan Wilson, Director of Fulton County Department of Community Development. "This data helps guide our planning, strengthens collaboration with community partners, and supports efforts to connect people with the housing and services they need."

Key findings from the 2026 report include:

  • 323 individuals were identified as experiencing homelessness — a 34% increase compared to 2025.
  • 146 individuals were unsheltered and 177 individuals were sheltered in emergency shelter or transitional housing.
  • Adult only households made up 85.9% of all households counted.
  • Unsheltered homelessness was primarily concentrated in East Point (21.9%), Roswell (20.5%) and Alpharetta (15.1%). Combined, these three cities account for 57.5% of the unsheltered count.
  • The county’s housing inventory decreased by 8.7%, driven largely by a decline in Rapid Re Housing capacity. 

The report highlights the growing need for shelter, housing, and supportive services throughout Fulton County. The data will help guide the Continuum of Care's collaborative efforts to strengthen outreach, expand system capacity, and enhance services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The Fulton County Continuum of Care encourages community partners, agencies, volunteers, and stakeholders to participate in the 2027 Point-in-Time Count, scheduled for January 26, 2027. Participation is vital to ensuring an accurate count, identifying local trends, prioritizing resources, and strengthening the community's response to homelessness. Additional information about volunteer opportunities and partner engagement will be shared later this year.

Conducted annually, the Point-in-Time Count captures the number and characteristics of individuals experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness on a single night. The report serves as a foundational resource for local planning and provides data essential for federal funding applications and program development.
